Return to Fairway Frets

Sources & calendar notes

Fairway Frets follows the men’s PGA TOUR, DP World Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia, the four majors, and the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup. A co-sanctioned event appears once, with all its tour memberships. Mixed events on these tours remain included and are labelled. LIV is excluded.

What is covered

The initial collection contains 220 announced events: 173 across the published 2026 and 2027 PGA TOUR and DP World Tour schedules, the 2026/27 Australasian season and international cups, plus 47 reviewed longer-range announcements. Some 2026-season events took place in late 2025. This is a collection of published seasons and researched announcements, not a guarantee that every future event has been announced.

107 events have reviewed playing-date ranges; 82 have a finishing date only; 31 have a year or host announcement with dates still unverified. Later years contain selected announcements through 2051, not full tour seasons. Browse a year to find its undated hosts. The 2028 Presidents Cup at Kingston Heath is included without invented playing dates. Later announcements and source changes may alter these counts.

Reading the dates

Calendar bars show verified competition ranges. “Finishes” means only the final date is known; these entries appear separately under “Dates still to verify”. A tournament week is labelled as such and is never silently treated as a Thursday–Sunday competition. Dates are local to the venue, not Australian broadcast times. The clock and daily guitar use Sydney time.

Gold identifies a major, blue an international cup and green an Australian highlight. Tour names describe membership separately. Event details list sources, checked dates, mixed fields and any changes that need review. A tournament being on today does not imply a live score feed.

How updates work

A central Cloudflare Worker checks one due source every four hours. Each source is attempted at most once per 24 hours, with a global maximum of eight provider attempts per UTC day. The calendar reads saved data; opening it never contacts a golf provider. Source failures retain the last good data, respect Retry-After, and appear in the update status JSON.

Season announcements and finishing dates currently come from the public MediaWiki API: 2026 PGA TOUR, 2027 PGA TOUR, 2026 DP World, 2027 DP World and 2026/27 Australasia. Wikipedia is community maintained, not an official tour API. Its contributors’ text is available under CC BY-SA 4.0; follow each event’s source and revision for attribution and history. This collection normalises names and memberships and adds reviewed playing dates.

Verified ranges were researched from official tour schedules and announcements, the 2026 PGA TOUR media schedule and the 2027 schedule announcement. The event details retain their specific sources. A conflicting new finishing date is flagged for review while the existing verified range is retained. A disappeared row is retained pending review, rather than assumed cancelled.

The additional JSON-provider adapter is built but disabled. It can add a licensed API later without changing the display. Tee times, scores, player fields, television listings and Australian viewing times are not supplied.

Long-range announcements are a reviewed supplement from U.S. Open future sites, PGA Championship future venues, Ryder Cup future venues, Presidents Cup future venues, tour announcements and published Masters dates. These sources are linked in each event. This supplement requires editorial maintenance; the automated season-table collector does not discover every future host announcement or automatically roll over to new seasons.

Guitars & offline use

The collection has 383 reviewed photographs, mostly instruments and close-ups. Photos are hosted here, shown uncropped, and rotate daily. Each photo includes an author, source and licence link; all credits and licence notices remain available. Wikimedia Commons is the source; each file’s own licence governs use. Thumbnail resizing, orientation normalisation and JPEG re-encoding are recorded in the library manifest. The Fairway Frets logo is an AI-generated asset approved for this project.

The app shell and viewed photos work offline after a successful first load. Settings can save all 383 photos, approximately 93 MB. Storage is browser managed and may be evicted. The calendar uses its last saved successful snapshot if the network fails. An offline browser cannot receive updates.

Calendar download & limits

Download the calendar as ICS. Verified ranges use all-day events; finishing-date-only entries are one-day entries explicitly named “finishing date”. Year-only announcements are omitted. Public calendar endpoints are limited to 60 requests per hour and 240 per day per IP, and 5,000 per day globally. Static pages and photographs bypass these application limits.

Browsing returns to the current week after 60 seconds of inactivity, for an unattended display. Preferences are saved on this device. No account is required.
